Is Donald Trump racist?

Nigerian award-winning novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie appeared on BBC Newsnight with the editor in chief of the American Spectator, R Emmett Tyrrell to discuss Trump's win at the U.S presidential election.

Tyrrell argued that Donald Trump hadn't said anything racist during his campaign trail, and his endorsement by the KKK was nothing more than an unfortunate detail.

A claim to which Adichie responds with: “I am sorry, but if you are a White man you don’t get to define what racism is… No, you don’t get to sit there and say that he hasn’t been racist when objectively, he has.”

Remaining calm and collected despite Tyrrell ridiculous statements and disruptions, Adichie's eye rolling game was so on point.

However, we are very surprised that Nigerians are insulting Adichie and defending a White mansplaining raceplaining misogynist who at various times was basically trying to downplay the KKS’s role in Trump’s election:

Here are some of the reactions, (I am posting only the ones supporting Adichie, because the ones opposing her are downright stupid and ridiculous):

The trend that we have to attack and write insulting think piece on Adichie everytime she speaks is just ridiculous.

None of the people speaking out against Adichie bothered to watch the video (posted above) or even praised her for being incredibly patient.

And even more annoying, none of them are questioning Tyrrell's statement that Trump is not racist.

Meanwhile, I agree with Adichie that a White man cannot define racism when they have never experienced it before.

She is not saying he cannot talk about racism. The word she used was 'define', which is only right since the only person/s who gets to 'define' the realities of racism are the ones at the receiving end.

Please for those who have never bothered to study history, you need to know and understand that racism was created, and perpetuated by white people. So how can they define and understand the struggle?

White people were not invaded, kidnapped, mutilated, killed and shipped in horrendous conditions to become slaves in another continent.

Nigerians need to be sensible and critical. We need to stop with the Adichie hating, it is getting old.

If you don't like her story, go and write your own.

Don not get stuck at the well of argument. Let God be your vindicator. Let Him fight your battles. He will vindicate you better than you can vindicate yourself.
