Mrs. Bolanle Ambode, wife of the Executive Governor of Lagos State is expected to deliver the second distinguished lecture of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.

Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, Vice-Chancellor of the university, who disclosed this recently at a news conference, said the Mrs. Ambode, an alumna will speak on the theme of the lecture titled: “Life Skills Education for Employment and Entrepreneurship Learning in the 21st Century”.

According to the VC, the lecture will also feature three distinguished personalities that include Mrs Dan-Faparusi Ogungua Enitan Anne, a graduate from the Law Faculty of the university who later trained as a certified American pilot.

“The second person is a renowned thespian in the person of Mrs Joke Jacobs popularly known on the stage as ‘Joke Silva’, a women of substance per excellence, and the third but by no means the least, the famous and highly respected Mr Segun Arinze, actor, director and producer among others,” he said.

In the same vein, a former American Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Walter Carrington, has also been selected to head the final selection team for the newly instituted Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Spirit of Africa Awards.

The awards are instituted by University in honour of the former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu and it would be held annually, starting this year.

The VC said the diplomat was chosen for the assignment based on his grassroots acumen, untainted integrity and global acceptability of his person.

He said the former envoy, who was in Nigeria as US ambassador between 1993 and 1997, had accepted to serve in the team whose other members he refused to disclose for now.

The events will be preceded by a programme tagged “An Afternoon with Baroness Lynda Chalker” to be hosted by the institution.

Chalker, an outstanding political and business leader, would deliver a lecture themed: “Africa in a Competitive World, Development and Business.”

Prof Fagbohun explained that the essence of the various programmes is to build a synergy between the university, the private sector and the government at all levels for a knowledge-based and driven development

He said, “For us as an institution, it is about building the right collaborations to the end that we are able to train and supply better equipped and market-ready manpower for the development of the public and private sectors of the state and nation at large”.
