DETERMINED to end the incessant cattle rustling and kidnapping in Niger State , the state government on Sunday said it would introduce the use of air surveillance to curtail the menace.
The Deputy Governor of Niger State , Ahmad Ketso , disclosed this at a town hall meeting in Pandogari between herdsmen, security agencies and some state officials .

He said town hall meeting was aimed at finding a lasting solution to the menace of cattle rustling , kidnapping and rape in the area .

Ketso , who represented Governor Abubakar Bello, said the harmonious and peaceful co -existence based on true teachings of Islamic and Christian faith was panacea to senseless killings and destruction of lives and property in the state .

He said the state government was working out modalities in conjunction with various security agencies , including the use the use of air surveillance to curtail the menace in the affected areas .

The deputy governor expressed government displeasure over the spate of armed banditry , kidnapping and cattle rustling in Bassa , Kusherki , Alawa and Kukoki in Shiroro and Rafi local government areas of the state .

Earlier, the General Officer Commanding 1 Mechanised Division of Nigeria Army, Major General Adenyi Oyebade , commended state government for organising the meeting , saying the security agencies were the major beneficiaries .
