As Lara Day School, Ikeja, Lagos marked its 2018 Family Fun Day, Head of School, Mrs. Patricia Tioluwani, has advocated for a deliberate preparing and nurturing of children to enable them harness the future opportunities by taking them through a skill-based education.

Speaking at the Family Fun Day ceremony held recently within the school premises, she explained that the event was meant to encourage family bonding and skill-based education.

At the event that had parents, pupils, alumni and other stakeholders of the school community in attendance, Mrs. Tioluwani said: “Lara Day School wants everyone to know that play is an essential and core part of learning and child development; one cannot deny a child of play and expect to have a rounded child.

“Our aim is to educate our immediate and external audiences that play helps a child develop physical skills, problem-solving skills and ability to concentrate,” she stated.

Mrs Tinuke Afe-Ajanaku, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher-Association commended the management of the school for sustaining excellence and unfeigned commitment at the over 50-year-old school.

The highlight of the event was the engagement of both pupils and parents in activities that include riding, painting, mountain climbing, playing video games, competitions and table-tennis among other games.
