The authorities of Central Primary Schools, Oniwaya, Agege local council of Lagos State have taken delivery of a recreational facility worth over N1 million for the pupils’ wellness, fitness, rounded development and mental alertness.

The donor and a non-governmental organisation, Vina Progressive Association (VPA), said the gesture was part of its vision to give back to the society and catering for the needs of the less privileged.

During the facility inauguration in Lagos, its founder, Ibironke Babaita, said: “The project was part of our contribution to give back to the society from our collective treasure in fulfilment of one of our core visions of serving humanity. We chose here to make public primary schools more attractive and conducive for learning through recreation.

“I congratulate the pupils who are the direct beneficiaries of this playground, the management and staff of Agege Council and relevant education agencies.

On the choice of the institution for the project, a trustee, Akin Odutola, said it was based on the need assessment carried by the organisation, adding: “The donation is to take care of the physical health and education of the kids whose population should bell over a thousand.”

Another member of trustee, Adegbenga Adesoye said, “Vina is made up of professionals from different fields with members spanning all over the world. We have been commissioning programmes over the years. This event is a way of giving back to the society where we do business.”

Earlier, the council chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi, represented by his deputy, Biodun Ogunji, lauded the group for complementing his administration in advancing learning in the area.

He urged emulation of the gesture by other individuals, private and public-spirited organisations as well as partnerships with the council management for provision of more modern facilities to schools and growth of the education sector in the state.
