The Ibom Multi-Lingual Resource Centre and Multi-Nation University are in the pipeline to check the N2 trillion loss to education of Nigerians abroad, boost tourism and tackle the brain drain in Nigeria.

To give vent to the dream, work has begun at the sites of both institutions in Uyo and Awa Iman-Mbioto, Onna local council of Akwa Ibom State.Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Dombelt International Development Limited/lead promoter of the projects, Mr. Edet Mba Marc, during a press conference yesterday in Uyo, noted that the second phase of the university was for Oron council area, adding that the resource centre would be completed in 12 months.

According to him, the facility would attract over two million visitors yearly, creating jobs for the youths in cinematography, entertainment and publishing among others.

Marc said the projects are being executed under a public private partnership (PPP) between the Akwa Ibom State Government and EPH Development Company in collaboration with Dombelt International, disclosing that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed in 2017 at the state Ministry of Education. He explained that at the university, different courses would be offered with a mission to provide a linkage for global technology and centre for multi-lingual base in order to speedily drive the industrialisation of the African continent and foster unity among students across tongues and cultures.

Marc added that the ivory tower was to offer courses on fabrication and manufacturing as well as aeronautical engineering with a mini runway for students to fly.He said the resource centre would serve as a veritable platform for students to hone their skills in nine languages, including Spanish, French, Arabic, Chinese, German, English, Dutch, Russia and Italian.

The lead promoter clarified that before any student graduates, he or she must be able to speak fluently four of the nine above international languages, noting that there were scholarships for 3000 indigent students across Africa.

Stating that the institution had gotten the approvals of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Education, Marc said it would strengthen human capacity and revolutionise the nation’s agro-economy, especially cassava production in the country and on the continent.He pointed out that the university’s curriculum had been tailored to ensure job security for graduates, adding that the tertiary institution would partner with its peers internationally to achieve its laudable objectives.

In terms of economy, the company chief executive said: “These projects will bring down what Nigerians have been spending in educating their children in Ghana and other European countries to the tune of N2 trillion.
