Igbo Students Union (ISU), University of Benin (UNIBEN) chapter, Benin City, has called for the unification of all indigenes of the Igbo tribe, stressing that such union will promote togetherness amongst them.

Assistant secretary general of the union, Ebugosi Chiedozie, made the call during the maiden edition of its one-week joint cultural festival last weekend.
The Ofobuike group and a conglomerate of students sponsored the event, in commemoration of the Igbo culture.

The festival, tagged ‘Igwe bu ike,” translated as majority is power, was centred on uniting the different eastern states on campus. Chiedozie said the event marks the first ever combined cultural day of the ISU in the university. He added that it also serves as a reminder to all Igbos to preserve their culture and tradition.

He further stated that there is no plan for continuity, given that uniting students from the various eastern states poses a major challenge for the union.
President of ISU, Mr. Muoghalu Onyedika commended members for their efforts and contribution to the growth of the union, adding, “currently, we are doing well as a union and I urge you all to do more to take the union to greater heights.”

The chairman of the event, Prof Nathaniel Aniekwu while inaugurating the new members of the council commended the efforts of the union especially in unifying all Igbo speaking students for the event. The ceremony was spiced up by a few cultural displays ranging from dance, drama, wrestling and comedy.

Don not get stuck at the well of argument. Let God be your vindicator. Let Him fight your battles. He will vindicate you better than you can vindicate yourself.
