MTN Nigeria has presented a reward of N500,000 to three teachers who won an online essay competition it organised in partnership with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Lagos state chapter as part of activities marking the World Teachers Day.

A statement from the leading African telecom giant said the event was in recognition of and to celebrate teachers and proprietors who are contributing immensely to the nation’s education sector.

“To support the purpose, MTN organised an online essay competition for the teachers on the topic: ‘How Best to Improve Digital Education in Nigeria.

“About 50 entries were registered in the keenly contested competition as the top three entries were rewarded with cash prizes,” it stated.

It further added that Hauwa Muhammad Danjuma from Jolas Private School, Lagos came first and received a sum of N250,000 while Kalu Godwin who teaches at Hopebay College, Lagos came second and was rewarded with a cash prize of N150,000.

It noted that Amaka Mbaegbu from New Fountain Secondary School, Lagos came third and got a cash prize of N100,000.

In their separate remarks, the winners expressed their gratitude to MTN and encouraged the telecom company to keep investing in Nigerian education.

It will be recalled that MTN had created mPulse for teens and tweens to help complement and improve the standard of education in Nigeria, just as the web platform contains educative digital contents which are updated regularly.
