The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has announced its plan to extend the 2019 registration period for private students seeking to sit for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

In a message on its official Facebook page, the exam council said the registration period for the private candidates has been extended to August 22, 2019.

The registration for the regular, walk-in-candidates will commence after the period of registration for the private candidates is closed.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Oshindeinde Adewunmi, a senior official of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and one of the witnesses of President Muhammadu Buhari at presidential election petition court, on Wednesday, July 31, confirmed the president's secondary school results.

The official said during the cross examination that he is the deputy registrar in charge of school examination in Nigeria. A presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, shared the presentation on Twitter.

The petitioners, Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are challenging Buhari’s election at the last presidential election on some grounds including his qualification.

The petitioners claimed that the president did not have a school certificate for him to be qualified to run for election. Adewunmi confirmed that the copy of the University of Cambridge school certificate tendered by Buhari on Tuesday, July 30, was what he certified.
