Five people died yesterday in an accident along the Bauchi-Jos Road.
The spokesman of the Bauchi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Rilwan Suleiman, confirmed the incident yesterday.
He said the accident occurred when a trailer marked FJ607MKA and a Peugeot 406 car, KRF 13 AA, had a head-on collision.
He said three other people sustained injuries in a crash which, according to him, occurred around 1.30am.
He said the Peugeot car veered off its lane and rammed into the trailer.
In a related development, a student of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, Henry Ishaya, was reportedly knocked down by a vehicle Friday night near the gate of the institution.
The spokesman of the institution, Mohammed Wada, confirmed the incident yesterday, saying: “One of our students who was returning home from his lectures on a motorcycle was knocked down by a driver. Efforts were made to save his life, but he couldn’t make it.
“We rushed him to the medical centre of the polytechnic and from there, he was transferred to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi where a doctor confirmed his death.”
