Provost, Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo, Dr. Samuel Akintunde, has warned fresh students against vices, urging them to strictly abide by the rules and regulation of the college.
Akintunde who stated said this while administering the matriculation oath on new students for the 2018/2019 academic session specifically warned against cultism and examination malpractice.He disclosed that the management had beefed up security on campus and blocked all loopholes that might encourage students to flout the rules of the institution especially during examination period.

“Examinations would soon start. Please note that no student, fresh or stale can write examination without registration. Otherwise, if for any reason you cannot register, you may take the option of deferring your studentship or suspension of studies till next session. Let me inform you that with the online registration, it is now practically impossible to sneak into the examination hall to write paper.”

Akintunde, who enjoined the students to promptly do their registration to avoid embarrassment during examinations, described attempts to write exams without registration as malpractice.

“You also need to know that if you have not registered and you manage to sit for examination, there would not be any shortcut to upload your results online,” he said. Akintunde advised the students to desist from bad friends and peer pressure that could influence them against the code of conduct and ethics of the college.

“Let me warn you against rape, drug abuse, cultism, fighting/assault, indecent dressing and other vices. The college management has zero tolerance for all these. If you are caught, you have to face the consequences.”

Similarly, the vice chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Prof. Eyitope Ogunbodede, who plays a supervisory role to the degree students of the college, appealed to the students to be obedient to constituted authorities. Ogunbodede tasked them on diligence, hardwork, obedience and discipline, stressing, “Education comes with responsibility. You cannot strive for excellence if you are not disciplined.

“The hallmark of your stay in the college is to be groomed in learning and character to make you intellectually sound, emotionally stable, morally upright and properly fit to take up positions of responsibilities wherever you find yourselves hereafter.”
