A Secondary school (name withheld) participating in the ongoing West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) has been sanctioned for involving in examination malpractice, Nigerian NewsDirect gathered.
The Chairman, Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Alimosho branch, Comrade Olusesan Ogunwomoju disclosed this in an interview to our reporter.

Comrade Ogunwomoju confirmed that the so called secondary school on the Island was recently caught to have registered about 50 over age external students sitting for the examination.

It was gathered that the Office of Education Quality Assurance, Lagos State Ministry of Education on a thorough supervision mission caught the affected school in the act.

According to him, “the Director General, Office of Education Quality Assurance, Ministry of Education, Lagos State, Mrs. Ronke Shoyombo, while on supervision of the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) caught the school.”
He added that the act perpetrated by the school is indeed an examination malpractice of the highest order.

“This saw the registration of candidates who are no more in the school system, who had left school for the past 8 to 10 years, even who had probably gotten married…”

The said secondary school has henceforth been sanctioned for the dastardly act in examination conduct of education sector.

While reacting to the delay in Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) result release purportedly caused by the detected irregularities and examination malpractices, he said JAMB should, instead follow suit in sanctioning any affected centre.
