The National Association of Nigerian Students has appealed for support from NYSC to stem the tide of increasing societal vices among youths in the country.

The group however commended NYSC Management for mentoring graduate youths of the country on moral rebirth.

The Chairman, NANS, Joint Campus Committee, FCT Abuja, Comrade Mojeed Omolaja made this known when he led some members of the association on a courtesy call to the Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim in his office at Abuja.

Omolaja said all stakeholders must team up to sensitize and inculcate positive moral values into the youths who are future leaders.

He invited the DG to the group's forthcoming educational summit that would address human trafficking, irregular migration, sexual exploitation among others.

'Please come to our rescue. If you go to our campuses today, the level of drug abuse is becoming alarming', he said.

The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim urged the students to promote hardwork and embrace diligence and dignity of labour.

He said the scheme has introduced Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme into the Orientation Course content in order to reduce unemployment among youths and also make them employers of labour.

Ibrahim added that Management of the scheme has partnered finance institutions to offer loan facilities to Corps Members with bankable business proposals.

'As leaders of tommorrow, face your studies with seriousness and let there be unity of purpose among you so that you will positively impact on the younger generation', Ibrahim added.

In a similar vein, members of National Youth Council of Nigeria led by its Vice-President, Ambassador Mukhtar Akosile visited the DG to congratulate him on his appointment as the 18th Director-General of the scheme.The council also appealed for support from NYSC for its engagements.

"Be our vanguard and preach against cultism, drug abuse and other vices. With your support and by God's grace, we shall move the scheme to a greater level", the DG added.
