So, you’ve met a new guy who is everything you have ever dreamed of: desired height and body, cute, funny, spoils you, treats you like a queen, worships the ground you walk on, loves your dim-witted brain, can’t seem to get enough of all things you, wants to date and eventually, marry you. How sweet! There is just one little ‘but’…he’s married. Married I believe should be a sign from the universe to you explicitly screaming ‘do not touch with a ten-foot pole!’ because he will never be totally yours. So, why on earth are you stuck or considering getting stuck on Fantasy Island with a man who is unavailable?

Yes, 90% of the time, they are more attractive and treat you better than the regular sons of pharaohs out there but the fact that he already has a woman at home should make you know he is not your Moses. On the other hand, if you think, ‘he’s only married and that has never really stopped anyone moreover, he claims he loves me, not his wife,’ here are some truths you should weigh before taking that final decision.

#1. You are special, but not that special.

You are possibly not the first he has or is trying to do this with and no matter how special he claims you are, he would NEVER leave his wife for you. Why would he do that when he is enjoying the best of both worlds? He is playing you and he knows it. You are simply someone he (secretly) shares good times with, nothing more, and then he goes home to play husband and daddy. Even if he eventually leaves his wife, there is a 98% chance he would not choose you to be with as you were merely his closest or easiest exit plan. Still feel special?

#2. A man who cheats will almost always cheat.

He is probably with you right now because you gave him the chance. Some men are serial, compulsive or opportunistic cheaters. He probably sang sad songs like ‘he’s unhappy’, you seem to be the only one on earth that gets him,’ etc. and they got to you. Well, babe, these are usual lines of a cheat. A man will tell you anything his creative mind can think up just to get down with you. One thing you should understand is if he can comfortably cheat on his legal spouse, please, who are you again?

#3. Tables will turn.

So, he is doing all the chasing right now, showering you with gifts, time/attention and acting like the boss when his wife calls and you’re there. Sweet, right? Well, at the point where you start playing dead when the real madam calls, just know the dynamics have changed and will keep going downhill from there.

#4. You deserve better.

Why play ‘side chic’ or the ‘other woman’ when you can be the centre of another man’s life? You can’t experience the best of a loving relationship with a married man because you are sort of a shameful secret even if he does not admit it. You can’t meet with family and friends or have a proper date as who you really are – a shameful secret.

You need to love yourself more, don’t give up on your romantic future, you deserve better and can get your own happily ever after, know that his wife also deserves better. You can be in the spotlight with your own man and not on the side with another woman’s man, the choice is yours. So, if a married man or a guy with a girlfriend comes your way with their lines/rhymes, girl, please, run as fast as your legs can carry you because ‘na dem’ and there no way the story will end well.
