Many believers are not expecting to get to heaven when they leave this earth. Their actions show that their final salvation is a game of luck.

Let’s say I pass a note to believers containing this statement;

‘If you die now, where will you spend eternity. Heaven or hell?’

A lot of them will sigh, squeeze the piece of paper and then close their eyes. ‘God, it’s your mercy I need o.’

Some will write, ‘hmmm…I pray so.’ Some others will shake their head and say they don’t know.

Do you wonder why many come out for altar call like ten times in a year? There is no faith in what they have received. No assurance. No confident expectation. Only fear that brings torment. Yet Paul in Romans 8: 23 NLT says this;

‘We too, wait with eager hope for the day God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We are given this hope when we were saved. (if we already have something, we don’t need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don’t yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently)

Paul was sure of what the future looked like for him. Did he belong to a special category of humanity? No. He had this same body as we have. He faced similar temptations as we are faced with. But read his words again. They carry confidence and hope.

Dear believers, why are you always thinking of hell and torment when there is a beautiful city awaiting you?

Have you ever rejoiced in the hope that you will see Jesus face to face and live with Him forever?

Do you realize that you are hidden in Christ, and this Christ who is your real life shall appear and you will go with Him?

We will all leave this world someday, whether by death or by the rapture. But it will be a transition to a better life.

This place is not our home. We are just pilgrims here. We shall soon take off this mortal body and put on immortality. We will walk the streets of gold and worship in God’s presence forever. Oh how beautiful!

We know where we are going to, and we are assured access to the full rights promised to us.

We have the Holy Spirit as the seal of our eternal redemption and because we have committed our lives to him, we can shout with joy!

Like Paul, we confidently announce that we know who we have believed and we are persuaded that He is able to keep that which has been committed to Him.

Dear followers of Christ, you will not miss heaven. Believe this with all your heart and watch with earnest expectation. There is a crown awaiting you. Trust that as you have committed your life to the Lordship of Jesus, He will never let you perish.

…And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:28.

We are heading to a place where there’ll be no more tears and no more sorrow. We will live with our Lord forever more. Do you remember this hymn?

How beautiful heaven must be

Sweet home of the happy and free

Fair haven of rest for the weary

How beautiful heaven must be.

What about this?

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine

Oh what a foretaste of glory divine

Heir of salvation, purchase of God

Born of His Spirit, washed in his blood.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Saviour, all the day long.

This is my story, this is my song,

Praising my Saviour all the day long.

Our concern right now is to grow in the knowledge of Jesus and his immeasurable love.

Enjoy a deep relationship with Him and practice communing with the Holy Spirit, with a full assurance that when our trials are over, we will strip off this garment of suffering and pain.

We have a reason to rejoice. We have eternal life. There is a better city to look forward to, a place where we’ll reign eternally with Jesus. The thoughts of heaven should make our heart jump for joy.

Will you today thank God for the privilege of sonship.

Will you thank Him for calling you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

Will you be grateful for the gift of the Holy Spirit who is your seal of eternal redemption?

Will you thank Him for making you a partaker of His kingdom.

We are still in a world of sin and temptations will arise. If you have genuinely accepted Christ and you still see acts of sin displayed in your life, don’t go back to that altar continuously by repeating the prayer of salvation. Your position as a son is not lost. You are still God’s beloved.

The new creation man is your spirit and even though your mind is yet to understand the perfectness of what resides in your Spirit, it definitely will as you develop a deep relationship with Jesus.

What you should do now is to be opened to the Holy Spirit about your failings, crave a revelation knowledge of Jesus and keep following the Lord as He sanctifies every part of your being. You have no reason to be afraid. God’s word will change you inside out.

I’m going to see you in heaven. I will search for you and I will find you. We will walk the streets of gold laughing and having so much fun.

Again, this world is not our home. We are just passing through. In this blessed verse of the scripture lies our confidence;

‘Now unto him that is able to keep us from falling and to present us faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Jude 1:25.

Amen.
