At times, trying to understand the opposite sex can be like reading a book in a foreign
language. After all, men and women have many distinctions.

However, gaining a better comprehension of men can help you learn more about them, and about the deeper workings of their personalities.

This is appropriate thing because the better you understand men, the more compatible the partner you can find for yourself, or the better the relationship you can build for yourself.

Understanding men and the secrets they keep can help you communicate, and solve problems together. Without a maze of mystery between you and your man, you can connect on a deeper and more satisfying level!

There are some secrets within a man’s mind that we wish were out in the open. Some of those little secrets to help you handle your man!

1 .Men focus on solutions

While many studies show that women feel more compassionate than men, this is not entirely true. The difference is only in responding to a problem.

While the female brain is focused on verbal expression and showing empathy, men are focused on solving problems. So, even though he might not cry with you when you get in some difficult situation, for sure he will think about how he can help you to overcome the issue.

In this kind of situations women often see their men as uncompassionate creatures that don’t relate to them, but now you know that it is not true. They just react differently. If you want somebody to cry with you, go to your girlfriend, and if you need somebody to help you, go to your man.

2 .Most men talk less

Men are not known for being big talkers. While they might give eloquent and inspirational speeches that fire us up from the belly, they are not always great conversationalists. Men do not talk as much as women do as proven by a study that reports the average words per day for men is around 2,000 whereas the average word count for women is 7,000. If you’ve ever studied men, whether it be your father, brother, lover, or best friend, you’ve surely seen that they spend an awful lot of time in silence.

Interestingly, while men clearly talk less, they are notorious liars beating women out by double; a man can lie 6 times in a day compared to 2 lies that a woman will produce.

3 .Men like to be complimented on their appearance too

Because men have a tendency to act tough and oftentimes even arrogant or cocky, women may get the impression that many men aren’t particularly insecure, or that they don’t need or want compliments on their appearance.

However, men probably like and value these compliments as much as women do. Telling a guy that you like his hair, or that you think he looks handsome is probably something that will give him a self-esteem boost.

4 .You Can’t Change Him

I know that you know this intellectually, but on some level, you may still think you can pull it off. You can’t. And if you do manage to get it done, he’ll figure it out and resent you for it. Love him the way he is.

Maybe you’re with a guy who is super anxious… or maybe he’s lazy, or a bit loud. These are the types of things that you can’t change in a person. If you don’t enjoy these things about him, then stop trying to change them. Move on and find someone else.

If he’s emotionally or physically abusive you need to leave now! He can’t change. He may try, but the risk is too great.

5.Give to Receive

Give love and you shall receive love. Give your man the gift of your thoughtfulness, your time and attention to understanding him. In turn, he will give that back to you. Take action and demonstrate your commitment to the relationship in order to receive that same level of commitment. It’s not about asking for what you want, it’s about demonstrating that you practice what you want. In effect, this creates exactly what you want out of this relationship.

6. Give Him Space

There’s a fine line between showing you care and being clingy. Guys love it when you pay attention to them and send them cute text messages, but there are also times you need to back off with all the attention. Sometimes guys need alone time, time with friends, or time to pursue personal goals. Guys are all different with respect to how much space they need and when they need it, so it’s important for you to learn your guy’s preferences (and your guy should help you with this by making his preferences clear to you).

If a guy doesn’t text you or return your call for a few hours, or even a whole workday, it doesn’t mean he fell out of love with you. More than likely, your guy is working on something important that he wants to achieve specifically for you!

7. Appreciate His Efforts

If you’re with a guy who lives far away but travels to see you, or does anything that saves you time, money, or any sort of worry, make it known to him that you acknowledge and appreciate what he’s doing. If your guy travels from Accra to Berekum just to Visit you, tell him how much it means to you that he’s spending so much time ( six hours) to see you.

Another easy way to do this is to remember to say thank you for things like doors held open and restaurant checks taken care of—guys will notice. When you show appreciation for the guy you’re with, he’ll feel special in your eyes and will want to give even more to you.

8.He knows when you’re lying to Him

He might not even be sure what you’re lying about, but he knows when you’re not being honest. Better come clean, or his head will fill up with worst-case scenarios.

9.Men are emotional

While women are generally regarded as more emotive gender, male infants are more susceptible than female. Adult men also have stronger emotional reactions than women, but only before they are aware of their feelings.

Once they become aware of their emotions, they easily pull poker face. When growing up men learn to hide emotions that society deems as inappropriate for boys, but because of constant restraint of emotion when they do respond, their reactions are stronger than women’s.

So even if your man seems stronger than a rock, beneath all of that there is an emotional being. They get hurt also and maybe they won’t show it right away but that leaves the impact on them.

10.A fair amount of the things men do are to impress you

You may not realize it, but if your boyfriend is acting tough in a bar, or getting you expensive gifts, or doing other things to put on a show, he is probably trying to impress you.
You may just think that this is how he behaves naturally, but the chances are that he wouldn’t go through so much effort if he wasn’t trying to at least get your approval. You can see this in action when you mention something you like, and your guy suddenly tries to show you what he knows about that particular topic.

11.Men must defend their territory

Part of man’s work in evolutionary terms is to defend their territory. While women are very possessive, men will react aggressively when faced with the threat, especially if they are defending their love “territory”.

Once you two become a couple the man will start to think of you as his “territory” and he will not be pleased if some other male starts to threaten what he won. This is the case with other things in man’s life – his job, his family, his house, his car.

The urge to aggressively defend what is theirs is written in their genes, and not many manage to resist this instinct, which is not a bad thing in many cases. A lot of women see this as a sign of their partner devotion to them.

12.Men don’t live as long as women

Mortality rates are higher among boys in infancy and childhood. Globally, they are 25% more likely to die in infancy than girls. While more male babies are born around the world, it’s the female babies who end up surviving well into adolescence and adulthood. Not only are males more likely to die young, they are also likely to die earlier than expected.
Men take more risks than women and men tend to be under more stress than women; the leading cause of death among men is heart disease. Men also die before their partners. On average a man will die approximately five years before their female partners. It could be related to genetics or something in their blood, but studies lean more toward external stimuli that play a huge role in how men live and how men survive. Being put under tremendous amounts of stress in conjunction with risky behaviors is surely to lead to a shorter life than, for example, someone who manages stress well and avoids danger.

13.Most men have sensitive nips

Men can also be erotically stimulated in the exact same way as women. Just as there are some women who are not into nipple play whereas others are –men follow the same patterns. Some women are über sensitive and can even orgasm from nipple play.

While there haven’t been too many men documented in claiming the same magical power, there’s clear evidence that men are equally turned on by getting their nipples stroked, kissed, licked, or bitten. It’s an erogenous zone, so it makes sense that men, too, could have the pleasure of being pleasured by nipple stimulation.

14.Withholding sex is a dangerous game

I don’t care how mad you are at him, if you cut him off for an extended period of time, what happens next is on you.

15.We like it when you talk during sex

Talking during sex stimulates more than our ears. What kind of talk? Dirty, praising and instructive are great starts. As amusing as it may sound, a woman’s words can make a guy feel as potent and virile as a Roman gladiator, even if he’s a suburban banker.

The most common issue that most people face both in relationship and in marriage is accepting that men and women are different. They think and behave differently, and that is perfectly normal. There is little or nothing anyone can do about it. And the better you and your partner understand each other, the faster you will figure out whether you are meant to be together or not, and the better you will feel. Gaining an increased understanding of how men’s minds work, and what drives their behavior can help you deal with them better.

What are some of the things women should know about men that were not mentioned above? We would like to hear from you.
