In an announcement made by the registrar of the board, Professor Ishiaq Oloyede, 1,792,719 candidates sat for the exams, while 34,120 candidates had their results withheld for
examination malpractice .

The registrar of the board also said 15,145 results were withheld for further clarification.

He, however said the only means of checking the results of candidates would be through the short code — 55019, adding that the development is to clampdown attempts by fraudsters.

Oloyede also said that the short code means will "prevent those whose results are withheld from wasting their money at cyber cafes or creating unnecessary crowd at CBT centres."

''For the first three days or between now and Monday, the only means of checking the results of candidates would be through the Short Code (55019), '' he added.

Checking your 2019 UTME result
1. Send the word "Result" to the code 55019
2. If a you use a phone number that was not used to register for the exam, a message will be sent to you thus: “This phone number was not used for registration.''
3. If your result is available, you will receive the message: “Dear Mr/Miss X, your result is as follows… (And the details will be provided)”.

4. If your result is withheld, you will receive the message “Result Withheld”
5. If you belong to the list of candidates given the benefit of the doubt, your message will be: “Result withheld pending the upload of clarifications/document required from you.”
