Mesut Ozil insists he is happy at Arsenal and wants to remain at the club for at least the next two years.

The German, who signed for the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013, has been linked with a move ahead of the summer transfer window.

Unai Emery has dropped Ozil – the club’s highest earner – many times throughout the season and is said to be willing to sanction his exit if the right deal is presented.

But, asked if he wants to stay at the Emirates, Ozil told Sky Sports: ‘Absolutely. I’ve got two more years on my contract. I don’t know after that but I’ve got two years left.’

Pressed whether he is happy at the north London club, the midfielder added: ‘Yes. Why not?

‘I’m 30 now, still got years in front of me, it’s down to the club as well of course, but I’ve got two years here – after that I don’t know what happens.’

Ozil admits it has been frustrating not starting every game for Arsenal this season but insists he has no qualms with Emery’s selection policy.

‘No [issues with Emery]. Definitely not. There’s always speculation, everyone inside knew that our situation is positive,’ he said.

‘It’s frustrating [not playing]. I want to play in every game. Through injury I’ve missed games but that’s football.

‘As a footballer you always want to start games. The coach makes decisions which means you may not start but you have to keep going.’

Emery, meanwhile, said he was ‘very happy’ with how Ozil has responded to his demands last month since he became Arsenal’s manager almost 12 months ago.

The Gunners boss said: ‘He is working very well, he is playing well and he is helping us. I am very happy with him.

‘I think now in the team we have a good atmosphere and good spirit. Each player is helping us with his quality and with good behaviour.

‘This is the spirit I want so they are doing that, and Mesut is also.’

Ozil was left out of Arsenal’s Premier League defeat at Leicester City on Sunday, but could return to the team tomorrow when the Gunners face Valencia in the Europa League.
