The theme of the 2019 National Delegates Conference of the NLC was “Towards a Decade of Activism for the Promotion of Labour Unity, National Re-birth and Development”. This theme mirrored the past shared perspective during the NLC at 40 celebrations – “NLC at 40: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, National Unity and Social Justice”.

The States Delegates Conference, also provided the oportunity for the election of leaders to provide leadership to various state councils for the next four years. And amongst the various individuals who retained their positions, there were a few new persons who won their respective seats including some registered nurses.

They include:

. The newly elected NLC chairman of Taraba State Com. Nrs. Peter Gambo emerged winner with over 300 votes to defeat his opponent who scored 86 votes. He was the past NANNM chairman Taraba state chapter.

. Com. Mrs Bathsheba Kalla, emerged winner of the Treasurer post at the just concluded NLC elections in Gombe State. She is also the NANNM Chairman Gombe State Council

. Comrade Ojong Ofut Ogar the Chairman NANNM Cross Rivers State was also elected as the TREASURER NLC CRS. with a total of 231 votes against 164.

. The NANNM chairman Edo State Comrade Nurse C. Eseine was also elected as vice chairman NLC Edo State

. Comrade, Alhaji Nurse Hazakilu Hussein Yau the current NANNM chairman of Jigawa State emerged as the state vice chairman of NLC

Great Nurses! It is our turn to shine. Glory be to God for the wonderful positions for NANNM members n NLC. Congratulations to all nurses who won the leadership positions in NLC. There is ray of light in the tunnel after all. The victory is not only yours but it is for all Nurses and midwives across the country.

Finally, we wish you all and the entire N.L.C council a happy and fruitful stay in office.
