-She was seen in her uniform twerking to ‘Nicki Minaj’s “Megatron” song being played in the background.
-Ghana Nursing and Midwifery Council has launched investigation while GRNMA condemned the video

The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) has expressed concerns about the video in which a lady purported to be a nurse, is wearing a uniform and whose twerking video has gone viral on social media.

The NMC says it has consequently commenced investigations to identify the said nurse and apply the necessary sanctions in line with the code of conduct of nurses.

This is because, according to the council, the "dancing in a sexually explicit manner" exhibited in the video was something it does not want to be associated with.

A video of a female in a nursing uniform [attached below] has gone viral on social media this week and has generated a discussion on whether or not it puts the "noble profession" of nursing in a bad light.

Reacting to the video in a statement issued Friday, May 15, 2020, the Nursing and Midwifery Council condemned the conduct of the female in the video and said the conduct was strange and an affront to the nursing profession.

According to the Council, although the identity of the female in question is not known yet, the issue has been referred to the Intelligence and Disciplinary Department of the council for investigations to begin to identify the person in the video and proffer the necessary sanctions on her if she was a nurse.

The Council cautioned all nurses to desist from actions which were against their profession’s regulations because it will not hesitate in sanctioning them when they go wrong.

In another development, the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwifery Council (GRNMC) has also announced that it was searching for the identity of the lady captured in the video.

To the GRNMC, twerking in a professional uniform is “unacceptable conduct and a disgrace to our noble profession”.

“Such practices do not reflect the ethics, etiquette, and standards of our profession and therefore the GRNMA vehemently disassociates itself from the video,” a statement jointly signed by the President and General Secretary of the Council, Perpetual Oori-Ampofo and David Tenkorang-Twum said.

The Council noted that although the identity of the supposed nurse is not yet known, the issue has been referred to the Disciplinary Department for investigations to begin to identify her and proffer the needed sanctions on her.

The Council is calling on the public to assist them to identify the nurse. It said anyone with information can contact GRNMC public relations officers.
