Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has approved the disbursement of N26.5m as bursary awards to students of the state in all tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The Commissioner for Education, Mr Foluso Daramola, said the state government had made electronic payments to the bank accounts of 2,646 students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria, who were beneficiaries of the bursary awards.

Daramola said in a statement said, “Government will soon disburse funds for the state scholarship scheme for deserving undergraduates and post-graduate students of the state, studying in Nigeria.

“Students who have complaints with regards to the bursary payment should visit Ekiti State Scholarship Board at the State Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, after the lockdown of the global COVID-19 pandemic”.

The commissioner called on the students to shun social vices that could negatively affect their future and advised them to be advocates in the war against COVID-19 pandemic by taking proper precautionary steps.

He also urged the students to abide by the government’s directives of washing their hands constantly and maintaining social distancing.
