An Etiquette Consultant, Mrs Morenikeji Oladimeji, has advised parents and guardians have on the need to protect their privacy and that of their children to avoid unpleasant occurrences like kidnapping.

Oladimeji said this at an event organised by Fountain Heights School, Surulere, Lagos, for parents, teachers and pupils of the school.

She said “Etiquette is not only about how people behave, but it also teaches us about safety tips on how to relate. Parents should avoid exposing everything about them or their children during this school closure on social media. It is not everything you do in your homes that should go online.

“Etiquette is about values, it is the missing thing in society. There is the need to educate the general public about this. Our cultures maybe different, but etiquette is like the base that guides us to help us understand that we should treat each other as humans irrespective of our cultures.”

The Proprietor of the school, Mrs Adebimpe Delano, said the event was also orgnaised to sensitise parents and pupils about safety measure to observe during the current coronavirus outbreak.
