To boost learning and improve on its area of focus, which includes basic education and literacy, Rotary Club of Ikeja has inaugurated an e-learning application in its adopted school.

Speaking at the commissioning, the President Rotarian Olumuyiwa Fagbola said the application would further improve the performances of the students particularly in subjects like mathematics and sciences.
it is a unique e-learning infrastructure that can only be found in private schools, but the club has brought it to a public school.

He added that the intervention is one of the six areas of focus of Rotary, in terms of basic education and literacy and the strategy, stressing that the club will continue to embark on projects that are sustainable and has a direct impact on beneficiaries.

“We have observed over the years that because of the way private schools are structured, more expenses, more facilities, students tend to do better than the students in public schools and that’s why they need this infrastructure in public schools so that they can compete extensively in terms of the way they learn and the way they comprehend.”

“And we are not just leaving it at that, we will make sure we monitor the students, their performances in all subjects in the next two years to really know that they are taking advantage of this infrastructure because our expectation is that in the next two years, their results and performances in all subjects is better than what they have now.”

Apart from this new facility, the club had in September 2019 donated two blocks of classrooms to the school with the provision of tables, chairs, white boards, board markers and cleaners.

District Governor, District 9110, Rotarian Jide Akeredolu urged the students to make good use of the facility to enable them excel in their studies.

“You have no reason to fail because, with this application, you will be competing at the international level. Your generation is different and that is why we want you to move to the information technology stage, which we believe can make you rise above all odds and become what you want to become in the future,” he told the students.

Representative of the commissioner for education, Dr. Olufunke Oyetola said the group had just keyed into the transformation agenda of the present administration in the state.

She urged the student to take the advantage they have over other schools in the state very serious, “they have brought technology to you and you must make judicious use of it because it makes learning very easy.

In his remarks, the school principal, Mr. Safiyu Sikiru said the club donations has started yielding dividends as the school won the award of the best school in the district for 2018/2019 academic year.

Demonstrating the application to the students and guests at the event, the chief marketing officer of Chips, Bits and Bytes Limited, Mr. Adebiyi Fashoyin said the infrastructure is a multi-sensory solution, which will help the students assimilate faster than before.

He assured the school of constant evaluation of the facility as well as training of teachers so that they can easily impact on the students.
