Acting vice-chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), prof Olugbenga Ige has announced a scholarship scheme for 200 indigent and physically challenged students.
Prof Ige explained that the move was to financially assist indigent but brilliant undergraduates actualise their dream.

Already, he said the institution has resuscitated the students’ work-study scheme and approved the employment of 200 indigent students in addition to various scholarship schemes available.

The vice-chancellor said the university expects students to pay prescribed fees and complete their registration processes as stipulated by the management using the appropriate payment platforms.

Meanwhile, about 5,064 new students recently took the oath of office for the 2019/2020 academic session.

The acting registrar, Mr. Akinfemiwa Opeoluwa led the students in reading the oath of allegiance.

The oath read in part, “On the admission to membership of the Adekunle Ajasin University, I solemnly and sincerely promise and declare that I will pay due respect and obedience to the vice-chancellor and other principal officers of the university and I will faithfully observe all regulations which may, from time to time, be issued by them and/or on the order of Senate of this university for the good order and governance of the university. I also promise not to be a member of any secret cult or organisation.

“I promise to wear my identity card at all times on the campus, both day and night and my not wearing it constitutes a misconduct. In addition, I faithfully promise to refrain from any act of violence and other actions calculated to disrupt the work of the university or likely to bring the university into disrupt. Finally, I declare that appropriate disciplinary actions be taken against me in accordance with the rules and regulations of this university if I breach any part of this matriculation oath. So help me God”.

The vice-chancellor congratulated the newly matriculated students, informing them that during the commencement of the 2019/2020 admission exercise, the university received over 16,139 applications while 5,064 students succeeded in getting admission.

He further enjoined the students to do away with any form of anti-social behaviour and character, which may contradict the rules and regulations laid down by the institution in order to protect their studentship.

“Our university is strictly governed by standards norms and values, and the school will not tolerate any anti-social behavior and character that may contravene or contradict the laid down rules and regulations.

Incidents of cultism, rape, examination misconduct, indecent dressings, sexual harassment and the likes will not be tolerated. Anyone caught in these misconducts stands the risk of losing his studentship.
