Students of Ekiti State University (EKSU) have decried the postponement of their December 7, 2019, examination to Monday 23rd by their vice chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun.

The examination reschedule was as a result of the local government elections, which held in the state last weekend. Conveying the information to the students, a memo from the Head, Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs, Bode Olofinmuagun, stated, “following the local government elections scheduled to hold across Ekiti state on Saturday, December 7, 2019, the vice chancellor has directed that all examinations be postponed to Monday December 23.”

Aggrieved by the development, some of the students took to their social media handles to express their displeasure about the rescheduling of the exams. They lamented over insecurity and road accidents that are prevalent in festive seasons, which allegedly, is a consequence of December rush.

However, The Guardian gathered that the rearrangement would not be affecting the entire students of the school, as only a few students will sit for the exams on the new date.

One of the students who pleaded anonymity said, “My head of department arranged our timetable in such a way that this development does not in anyway affect us. We would have concluded our departmental exams before the new date.”Although, many students have criticised the development, only a few applauds Olanipekun for making such empathetic decisions as it concerns students’ safety.

You do not know what God is up to. You may feel overlooked, and nobody is giving you credit. Do not worry. God knows how to promote you out of season.
