A group, Okeodo High School Old Students’ Association (OHSOSA) has urged the Federal and Lagos governments to put a check on the rising incidences of the proliferation of schools and others operating in a ramshackle building to avoid loss of lives of innocent children and teachers.

Speaking against the backdrop of the recent collapse of a building housing a mushroom school in Lagos in which 20 lives were lost, Administrator Hope Uwagboe, Chairman, OHSOSA, challenged the state government to overhaul registration processes and closely monitor accredited schools.

Uwagboe, who stated this at the career talk/prize giving day and donation of uniforms, school sandals and notebooks by OHSOSA to Oke- Odo Junior High School students in Lagos within the week berated the Lagos State government for not doing much in the area of building control and test in schools.

Challenging the state government to do more on education, Uwagboe said: “Lagos State government is not doing much in the area of building control and test. Proper tests should be carried out on schools with dilapidated buildings.”

Speaking on the donation, Uwagboe said that OHSOSA had visited the school several times and discovered that students were not properly kitted, adding that some of them come to school in tattered, worn-out uniforms and bare-footed.

Don not get stuck at the well of argument. Let God be your vindicator. Let Him fight your battles. He will vindicate you better than you can vindicate yourself.
