When Bunmi Olaoye (founder of Gangwolf360 and artmonnk) started a hastag on Twitter, WeAreNigerianCreatives, people around the world were clearly not ready for the outcome of the campaign.

Since the start of the hashtag in July 2018, it has become evident that Nigerian artists can no longer be ignored.
Below are some of Nigeria’s best hyperrealist artists:

Kelvin Okafor

One of the most recognised hyperrealists in the International community, Okafor is famous for his drawings of Naomi Campbell, Beyonce, Rihanna and Nelson Mandela. Some of the celebrities he has drawn have expressed their joy publicly for been chosen as a muse.

Ken Nwadiogbu

A one-time Guardian Life spotlight subject, he is a self-taught 3-Dimensional artist who uses acrylic and oil to create astonishing images. Kareem Waris

The world’s youngest hyperrealist is 11-year-old Kareem. Also, a Guardian Life spotlight subject, he caught the attention of Emmanuel Macron, president of France and the attention of the world after he drew the president in less than 2 hours.

Arinze Stanley Egbengwu

Arinze Stanley is best remembered for using simple monochrome pencils to draw a portrait of President Muhammadu Buhari. The graduate of agricultural engineering is also the winner of the “World’s Best Self Portrait” at the American Art Awards, an award which sees the 25 best galleries in the US vote on 50 different categories from fashion to portraiture.
