Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, Oyo State has matriculated 1,245 fresh students into its four-year programmes in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) mode Centre.

Speaking at the ceremony recently, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Michael Ologunde, expressed delight at the steady growth of the programme in leaps and bounds since it was licensed to offer just Computer Science just as the centre recently gained approval to admit students into three other programmes.

Other Courses for which the National Universities Commission (NUC) already gave a nod to LAUTECH ODL mode include BN-Sc. (Nursing), B.Sc. Accounting and B. Sc Marketing.

According to him, the ODL method has remained the best mode for flexible tailor-made delivery of instruction with little or no disruption to national, family and individual circumstances, while also taking advantages of emerging Information and Communication Technologies (ICT).

Explaining that the LAUTECH ODL now has students from different countries such as Canada, United Kingdom, India, South Africa, Ghana and Saudi Arabia, who participate in Online facilitation and examinations through technologically driven means using the same academic calendar as those in the programme in Nigeria, the Vice-Chancellor hinted of a robust partnership between the Centre and the University of London.

He added that the foreign collaboration and enrolment will encourage more students who are desirous of the opportunity provided by the programme as well as enhance the rating of LAUTECH both within and outside the countrĀy.
