The Federal Government has through the instrumentality of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) allocated a total of N727,225,862,128.86 for infrastructure development in vital areas in tertiary institutions between 2015 and 2018.

The monies were spent in physical infrastructure, project maintenance, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) support, entrepreneurship, library development and special high impact projects, academic staff training and development, and research, among others, according to the Minister of Education Adamu Adamu.

The TETFund intervention was away from other sources of funding tertiary education such as the needs assessment and internally generated revenues.

Special allocations were also made to select institutions from each of the geo-political zones while the Nigerian Army University, Biu, Borno State also got a grant.
