Mr. Anders Einarsson, Managing Director, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, who announced the commencement of registration for the competition in Lagos on Tuesday said the flagship brand of the organisation has become a symbol of child nutrition in Nigeria since 1993.

In his address at the press conference witnessed by 13-year-old Akinfoluhan Akinleye of The Ambassadors College, Ota, Ogun State and 17-year-old Chinedu Mgbemena of Graceland International School, Port Harcourt, the 2018 champions in the junior and senior categories respectively, Mr. Einarsson assured that the firm had in the last 21 years, been involved in the improvement of the standard of education in Nigeria.

“Through Cowbellpedia, Cowbell has provided a platform to showcase and reward excellence in the subject area of Mathematics.

“The Cowbellpedia initiatives have triggered the interest of students in Mathematics at the secondary school level and further reinforced the importance of the subject in the growth of modern economies,” he added.

The 2019 edition, Cowbellpedia Secondary Schools Mathematics TV Quiz Show is open to students in JSS 3 and SSS2 from 10 to 18 years in both public and private schools across Nigeria and entry into the competition is free.

According to the organisers, the competition will be in two stages of the Qualifying Written Examination scheduled for Saturday, February 9, 2109, release of results in June and the TV Quiz Show. Each School is required to present their BEST Ten (10) students in Mathematics (five from JSS3 and five from SSS2), irrespective of sex, religion, tribe or state of origin, to enhance their chances of qualifying for the next stage of the competition.

However, as part of the brand’s deliberate effort in encouraging Girl Child interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) the organisers have made it mandatory for mixed schools to ensure the nomination of a minimum of two female students for each category.

The ultimate prize for this year’s edition is N2 million and an all-expense paid educational excursion outside the country. The first and second runners-up will go home with N1.5million and N1 million respectively.
