1. Dominic Solanke had appeared primed to join Crystal Palace on loan during the window, with Eagles boss Roy Hodgson going as far as to admit that the Liverpool hitman was on his radar. However, reports on Thursday suggest the deal is off, with the Londoners unconvinced by the Anglo-Nigerian attacker’s fitness. He’s yet to feature for the Reds’ first team this term, and has been struggling with a muscle injury lately. However, while the Palace move may be off, Huddersfield Town, Brighton & Hove Albion and Schalke 04 are just some of the clubs also linked to his signature.

2. Tammy Abraham is another young Nigerian England international who appears poised to move, even though he’s only midway through a season-long loan at Aston Villa. However, the Chelsea man has so impressed in the Championship—he currently has 16 goals in 20 second-tier games—that his parent club are reportedly considering bringing him back early. They may have another big decision to make, with BBC Sport revealing that Wolverhampton Wanderers are keen to recruit the 21-year-old permanently in January. Could Wolves offer Abraham a second chance to try and prove himself in the Prem?

3. Ismaila Sarr: While Arsenal have been heavily linked with Ivorian wideman Nicolas Pepe this window, Senegal’s Sarr is another African winger tipped for a switch to the Emirates Stadium. The Stade Rennais forward—who’s capable of the spectacular—could be an instant hit in North London, while he also has the potential to blossom into a world-class operator. A €30 million plus transfer tag has been mooted by sources in France, while reports in Senegal believe that Unai Emery is lining up a player-plus-cash deal.

4. Amine Harit: Schalke appear ready to cut the talented North African loose due to his regular disciplinary infringements, despite his immense potential and eye-catching showing at the World Cup. It seems that Harit, who tragically killed a pedestrian while driving in Marrakech after returning from Russia, has failed to build on last season’s progress and has been regularly frequenting a casino in Duisburg. With his performances dipping (only two decisive contributions so far this term), and Schalke keen to cut their wage bill, he may well be on the move.

5. Samuel Chukwueze only made his Villarreal debut in September, but such has been his form in La Liga that he’s already being linked with a move to Atletico Madrid as well as undisclosed Premier League clubs. He’s scored twice in seven La Liga games, and contributed an assist during another excellent performance on Thursday as the Yellow Submarine held Real Madrid to a 2-2 draw. His showing against Marcelo will surely have piqued the interest of prospective suitors, although former Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche has urged Chukwueze not to entertain thoughts of a move any time soon.
