Vice chancellor, Babcock University, Ilishan, Prof Ademola Tayo said the institution has fulfilled its mandate of transforming lives, excellence in teaching, research and service delivery for which it was established 19 years ago.
Prof Tayo who disclosed this while addressing new students at the matriculation ceremony of the institution said since its inception in 1999, the university has become a pace setter in tertiary education and earned a reputation as a global brand.

About 2,477 undergraduates and 521 postgraduate students took the matriculation oath.

According to him, from 2015 till date, the university has consistently won the global brand award at the world branding forum in London.

“We are thankful to God for making us to be who we are, to achieve what we have so far achieved. We are equally thankful to parents for your support and contributions”.

“In the recently released bar examination result of the Nigerian law school, Babcock University produced four first class students with 100 percent pass, thus emerging one of the best institutions in Nigeria running law programme having came out first in performance at law school examinations in 2015, 2016, third best in 2017, while the ranking for this year is still awaited.

Professor Tayo added that during the induction ceremony of newly qualified chartered accountants held on November 21, 2018, one of the students, Eigbefor Adesua emerged the best nationally, clinching the best prize in Advance Auditing, Strategic Financial Management and three other prizes.

He also said the cardio vascular centre of Babcock University Teaching Hospital has offered opportunities to hundreds of Nigerians whose lives could have been cut short due to heart related problems and so far has performed successful heart surgeries on over 100 patients referred to the centre.

He assured parents of the matriculating students that the institution was determined to positively change the fortunes of the nation’s educational sector.

This, according to him, explained why products of the institution are occupying positions of prominence in Nigeria and winning awards in internationally recognised institutions abroad.

While welcoming the students, the vice chancellor stated that their oath of allegiance marked the beginning of their journey of success to become outstanding leaders of thought, professionals and distinguished professors in their chosen fields.

He said he was seeing before him leaders that would turn the nation around for success.
“Therefore, refuse to join others in the larger society who will always prefer to cut corners,” he added.

He enjoined the parents to join hands with the university to make the best out of the children both academically and spiritually.
