You Should Fight For What You Love. by Happy (f): 3:47am on December 8

Relationships were the way they were way back when because when something was broken we would fix it, not just throw it away.

I've been told countless times..
"True love has no pain."

"You let someone treat you like that?"

"OMG you're too pretty for that."

"Wow you deserve better."

Etc.

But are you aware of when..
He drove to my house at 3 a.m. because I had hurt his heart?

He sent me a bouquet of flowers...just because?

He stayed in to text me while his friends went out because I was having a hard time dealing with my anxiety?

He sent me countless "good morning *mushy stuff*" texts to wake up to?

He just sat there and listened when I screamed all the air in my lungs at him in a rage of anger?

He sat outside the bathroom door all night because I indulged in too much fun juice and didn't want him to see me like that?

He made it an effort to do everything in his power to make sure my 21st birthday (which was on a Tuesday night during finals week) was still so much fun so that I would be happy?

He came home after meeting me, convinced he was going to marry me?

He still drove us home from a road trip after three hours of sleep and me throwing up rudeness and sass all over him, just because I was too tired to drive?

He still loved me after I messed up making EASY MAC, followed it up saying that it was okay, and THEN continued to fix the macaroni?

How about when all hell broke loose one night for no reason, and he decided to try harder by taking on a lake trip with me, instead of giving up?

The point is...
You only see what we allow you to see. What we say and how we act in front of you, what we post to our Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat accounts, what we, and how we, decide to tell you.

Solemnly will someone tell you how freaking fantastic their day was. Commonly someone will tell you how terribly miserable it was. True love has no definition, it has no rules, no "this is right, that is wrong".

"Love is patient, love is kind, love never fails."
~1 Corinthians 13:4-8~ "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."

Where, oh where, does it say love is easy? Love is painless? Or that love is something you should throw away if you go through a hardship here and there?

To the people who want to fight but need a reason.
My grandpa once said to me..

" Relationships were the way they were way back when because when something was broken we would fix it, not just throw it away"
-Grandpa Richie
This speaks VOLUMES to me.

When you get a bad grade, do you drop out of school? When you stub your toe and it causes you pain, do you just decide to amputate it? When you get in a fender bender, do you get a new bumper or do you buy a new car? When you lose in Fortnite, do you break the disc in half? (don't lie, I know you play again).

If you really, and really truly, love something (or someone), then fight for them. You give it your damn best until they straight up tell you, "it's not enough, or, I don't want to fight for you."

Because something worth fighting FOR isn't something you should be fighting AGAINST, so that something better be in your corner.

I believe in...
Fixing things that are broken instead of throwing them away. Growing with someone instead of growing away from someone. Learning with someone instead of learning from someone. Using God as your backbone, because He will never fail to support you. Finally, fighting for what you love because you may not get the opportunity to feel that way about anyone for the rest of your life, you may be letting your person slip away, you could be making the most detrimental decision of your life.

No pressure! You may regret it. I've had lots of regrets, but I will never regret my choice to fight for what I love. I will never regret choosing you.
