The Floral Schools, Ishaga, Lagos has successfully conducted elections through the ballots as prefects for 2018/2019 academic session were elected through democratic means.

Mrs. Kemi Bamidele, the owner of the school explained that the event has provided an opportunity to expose the children early to what it takes to assume leadership and appealed to parents to assist their wards to develop their public speaking ability.

In her address at the swearing-in of the new prefects, the Proprietress said, “What we achieved today is not ordinary. It is important to inculcate in children early enough the virtues of orderly conduct. Parents should teach them to be good leaders and let them see what it entails to be a good leader. Let them come to school on time, do the right thing at the right time and we shall see them in greater heights in life.”

In the same vein, Tayo Taiwo, the Head Teacher (Nursery), explained that aside academic qualifications, the school also looked at some qualities before choosing the class representatives and electing the prefects.

“We see the stars in them and as parents, let’s nurture them, teach them the word of God, pray for them and pray with them. Teach them to obey authority, parents and teachers. Children, you are going places in life,” she said.

Head Teacher (Primary), Femi Roberts charged the children to be brave in life, saying that leadership position is not part of fundamental human rights but must be earned through commitment and hard work.

Mr. Sunday Bankole, Chairman of the Election Committee, declared the election free and fair, adding that the presentation of the manifesto was properly coordinated.

Meanwhile, the Head Boy elect, Romilogo Falobi, thanked the teachers and parents for their support and his colleagues for believing in him and other winners.

“I want to thank my parents for their support. I thank my teachers for teaching me leadership. And on behalf of other prefects, I thank the pupils for voting for us. We will do our best to make the school better”, he said.
