2019 UMTE: JAMB offers exceptional foreign nationals scholarships

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will be made available to candidates of other countries in West Africa to gain admission to Nigerian universities .
The JAMB Registrar , Prof Is - haq Oloyede , stated this at the 6 th Annual Conference of West Africa Universities in Dakar , Senegal , according to a statement on Sunday.
He said the examination body would give scholarships to foreign nationals who perform exceptionally in the 2019 UTME.

The registrar , who delivered a paper titled , “Trans -Border Education and Research : Quality Assurance Implications for African Universities ”, said UTME forms would be available at the Nigerian missions in West African countries in December .
Oloyede in the statement by JAMB ’s Head of Information , Fabian Benjamin , said West African universities must not limit their visions to producing graduates for their countries.
He said , “Universities in West Africa must ensure that a certain quota is set aside for international students . This is the way universities in the sub -region can compete with their others . To find solutions to the challenges in West Africa , the universities must live up to their responsibilities . The imperatives are to develop appropriate policies , mechanisms and structures that will strengthen current efforts to ensure relevance and excellence .
“Scholarships will also be available to some foreign nationals who perform exceptionally in the examination .”

JAMB begins sale of 2019 UTME registration forms
10/Jan/2019, 07:09dailypost.ng

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) commenced sale of registration forms, for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, today Thursday, January 10, 2019.
Sale of forms will last for six weeks.
JAMB’s Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, has said the board will stop using cyber cafes for registration of candidates from this year.
He urged all prospective candidates to do their registration and access the board’s major services, in any of its 718 accredited centres in the country.
“We are no longer going to allow the cyber cafes to do the registration exercise for prospective candidates because they are extorting candidates and overcharging them.

“They also do services they do not have the capacity to do, coupled with the fact that there was no way of tracking them because they were not registered.
“Another major reason is the mix-up they create on the data of the candidates. Some will just ask the candidates to write their names and other details down for them.
“On accumulating such data, they now get all of them mixed-up, thereby creating problems for these candidates.
“We know there will be uproar because they make a lot of illegitimate money from these services, but we cannot leave the candidates at their mercy.
“Particularly when people will make noise that it is JAMB that was extorting them,” Oloyede said.
The 2019 UTME is scheduled to commence on March 16.

JAMB Warns That No Two Candidates Must Use Same Phone Number For Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has warned prospective candidates for the 2019 UTME to ensure they adhere strictly to the stipulated registration guidelines. The Board's Head of media, Dr Fabian Benjamin gave this warning on Friday during an interview with newsmen in Lagos.

According to Benjamin, all candidates who desire to register for the examination must ensure they begin by sending their full names, (surname first) to the code provided by the board. In doing this, candidates must ensure that no other person had used the telephone number for the same purpose.

JAMB Warns That No Two Candidates Must Use Same Phone Number For Registration
“No two persons must use a single GSM number in commencing the registration process as it will not be acceptable. “The way it is configured is one individual to one telephone number that will remain exclusive to that single individual for the purpose of the entire examination process. “Not even siblings are allowed to share a particular telephone number for this purpose. “

However, candidates who used their phone lines last year but are still going to participate in this year's UTME can use the same phone line they used last year for that purpose.

In the case of a missing telephone line, Benjamin advised that it would be safe to get a fresh telephone number for the purpose to send the code for the candidate’s profile number. “No two persons can share a telephone number for the purpose of confidentiality. “As a rule, it has always been one person to a telephone number to get a profile number that will enable candidates do the proper registration and capturing,’’ he said.

Benefit of Registering JAMB Early + ASUU Strike: Nothing Yet

major benefit of registering early for the 2019 JAMB UTME is the given opportunity to write the Mock Exam. Now, only those who indicate interest to write the Mock and successfully register on or before 31st January will be allowed to write the Mock Exam. The Mock Exam begins from Saturday 23rd February, 2019. Although the exam is not free, as it will set you back another N700, the exam will be a very good opportunity to test the JAMB system and know how comfortable you are with the CBT exam system. It will also help you make certain corrections that can put you ahead of your mates in the Main CBT Exams.
