ASUU STRIKE,NUNS POSITION. by BhbHoLLAH (m): 12:27am on November 11

ASUU decision at every time has always being to reposition education in Nigerian, Considering the state of university education in our dear country, every sane citizen will definitely fault ASUU if they remain silent or refuse to act in rescue our education system.

We remain a consumer of every thing because our education system is weak to produce a Producer or Inventor of anything except a mere repairer. At this stage in our dear nation we still have some professions not trained in Nigeria and we are force to patronise foreign experts to execute most of these jobs such as rail construction.

It is a shame and we must collectively end it.
A nation where the political elite children patronises foreign university and keep the education at state of collapse for the poor masses, then it is inevitable for stakeholders who mean well for the system to act. Since our Government understand no diplomacy but radical approach then let the ASUU strike to press home the repositioning of education in this country. We are not very comfortable that ASUU did not involve us as student leaders, a major stakeholder in the system but we assumed the insincerity of some student body to ASUU and Education sector mighty have cause the lost of confidence in student structure, the rebirth of NUNS will surely correct most of this misinformation and controversial stand of student structure in the past.

On our part, our earlier stand is to take on goverment by draging Govt to court of law over her refusal to implement 26% UNESCO education budget, our prayer is for FG to either Withdraw their membership from United Nation or Implement every resolution of the UN particularly that on Education. It is absurd attending United Nation Assembly as member and failing to implement agreement or resolution reached in such Assembly.

The obvious poor funding has greatly resulted to all university pushing to increase her payable fees in the recent, we have witness University of Ilorin 120% increase , Lautech 160% and many others institutions including Polytechnic just to mention but view, head of institutions are now pushing hard to milk student dry just to boost IGR in order to sustain running of our University since the Goverment has failed in good funding which is abnormal.

Nigerian student in our university today are faced with threat of being a drop out as school fee continue to increase habitrarily and our parent are owed salaries, accommodation is another great challenges student are facing on campuses most especially institutions in south east and south south part of the country where house rent is on high side.

While Goverment is fighting insurgency and other crimes, priority on education is major key to end insecurity in our nation and the Government must understand that now. Our next line of action in pursuance of quick resolution of this ongoing ASUU and COEASU strike will be made known after our Congress on 17th November 2018 at Kwara State College of Health Technology Offa.
