The Lagos State University (LASU) on Friday says it has submitted about 70 of its programmes for accreditation by the National University Commission (NUC).

Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, Vice-Chancellor of the university, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof. OAK #Noah, said this at the matriculation of new students for the university’s sandwich degree programme at #LASU campus, Ojo.

LASU, among other state universities in Nigeria, is currently undertaking accreditation of her programmes by the National University Commission #NUC.

“We are having accreditation in about 70 programmes in Ojo campus and two programmes at the LASU College of Medicine, Ikeja,” he said.

Fagbohun said that the university was undergoing a systematic renewal and expressed hope that the matriculating students would key into the renewal programme. He said that the new LASU was not relying on its past achievement but reorientating towards a new future based on hope and cerebral resilience.

According to him, the Association of African Universities have considered LASU as a Centre for Excellence in Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics studies .

“The university you have enrolled is one of the best centres of excellence in Fisheries and Aquaculture planning and the preferred among state universities in Nigeria,” he said.

He urged the new students to avail themselves the opportunity and access to Information Communication Technology (ICT) .

”We are in the age where students know more than their teachers in several aspects due to access to ICT.

“You are in a position of a post-modern person who uses the social media to collect information and digest before lectures and this is one of the reasons today’s students know more than their lecturers,” he said.

Fagbohun said every student of the university had access to his or her academic profile 24 hours daily to determine their academic status. He warned the students against belonging to any cult group or unapproved association, as the sanction for such is expulsion.

According to him, the university has zero tolerance for cultism, drug abuse, other social vices and poor academic performance. The vice-chancellor, however, urged the new students to take their studies seriously to enable them graduate as and when due.

#Fagbohun noted that 1,397 students were matriculated for the sandwich degree programme for the 2018 academic year.

You do not know what God is up to. You may feel overlooked, and nobody is giving you credit. Do not worry. God knows how to promote you out of season.
