The Nigeria Olympic Committee will on Thursday conduct the investiture of its patrons from the northern part of the country.

The event, earmarked for the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja, is a continuation of a similar exercise conducted at the Elegushi Palace in Lagos a fortnight ago, where five personalities were decorated.

At the Lagos event, Mrs Kofo Nwokedi, Sir Marc Wabara, Emmanuel Uduaghan, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Oba S.A. Elegushi were inducted as patrons of the Olympic body.

Six Nigerians who would be honoured at the Abuja event include ex-Nigeria Football Federation boss, Ibrahim Galadima; Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed AbdullahiAbubakar; Zainab Bagudu, wife of the Kebbi State Governor; Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba; Major General Adamu Dyeri (retd.) and Bashari Mohammed Gumel.

NOC president, Habu Gumel, said, “The role and duties of our distinguished patrons, whom we are inaugurating are majorly advisory and ambassadorial. We shall from time to time defer to your high offices with a view to seeking your advice or guidance and also take advantage of your wealth of experience or connectivity to further strengthen our operations and the delivery of our common Olympic Movement objectives.”
