AC Milan are plotting a move to sign a Manchester United outcast, while Real Madrid have hatched a plan to land their replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Monday’s European papers.

AC Milan are reportedly looking to add to their rearguard with the signing of a Manchester United defender in January.

According to ESPN , the Serie A giants are looking to fix their crisis at the back following the injury sustained by Mattia Caldara that will see him out for three months.

Eric Bailly is the man they are reportedly keen on, and the Ivory Coast international has not featured since being withdrawn 19 minutes into United’s 3-2 victory over Newcastle last month.

Reports have suggested that Jose Mourinho is eyeing a defensive overhaul in January, and Bailly is among those who he is seeking an upgrade for.

Bailly has also been linked with moves to Arsenal and Tottenham in January after finding in and out of Jose Mourinho’s side this season.

It was claimed last month that the former Villarreal man – who cost United £30m – has no intention of leaving Old Trafford in January but will ask to be sold next summer if his situation has not improved.

Real Madrid are ready to offer star forward Marco Asensio as part of a deal to land Chelsea’s Eden Hazard, a report claims.

According to Don Balon , Real president Florentino Perez has identified Hazard as the ideal successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, who departed the club for Juventus in a ÂŁ99m summer deal .

Perez is apparently willing to offload 22-year-old Asensio in order to get a deal over the line, though the report suggests that any deal is unlikely to be completed in January.
This is in large part due to the fact that the interim Los Blacos boss Santiago Solari is an admirer of Asensio, and is willing to give him the rest of the season to see what he can do.

Reports in the Spanish press have previously claimed that that Liverpool had lodged a €180m bid for the Spain star, while Chelsea were also linked with a move.
