In most cases, a missed period is usually the first sign of pregnancy.

But before you even notice that your period is late, there are telltale signs that can hint to you that you are most likely pregnant.

If you notice these signs and symptoms, you need to get a pregnancy test and confirm if indeed you are pregnant:

1. Tender breast

Your breast are likely to be the first indicator that something new is happening to your body if you are keen. Just a few days after the sperms meets the egg, your breast may feel sore, tender or even fuller than normal. If these symptoms stick around even after a missed period, you could be pregnant.

2. Fatigue

Although extreme fatigue comes in later weeks, you may experience it way before a missed period. As the body tries to adapt to the new changes and handling an increase in pregnancy hormones, you will feel more exhausted.

3. Spotting

Implantation bleeding is common during pregnancy (misadventuresinmommyhood)

Before you miss your period, you may experience a little bleeding or what is known as implantation bleeding. As the fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall, you may experience light bleeding and this happens between 6 to 12 days after fertilization. Most women confuse this bleeding with period blood. However, this blood is lighter, pinkish in color and only last for a few hours or few days.

4. Cramping

This too is easily confused for the menstrual cramping. During implantation, you may experience cramping.

5. Need to pee

Frequent urge to pee becomes worse much later after. However, some women experience it a few days after fertilization. As the uterus increases in size, more pressure is exerted on the bladder increasing your visits to the bathroom.

6. Bloating

Hormones affect digestion (thevirginer)

Once you are pregnant, the levels of progesterone spike up and can stir up things in your body. The hormonal changes slows down the digestion process leading to bloating.

If you experience the above symptoms followed by a missed period, go for a pregnancy test.
