The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has promised to reward other presidential aspirants who lost during the party's primaries if they unite to work for his success in the 2019 general elections.

Vanguard reports that Atiku made this statement in Abuja at a meeting with members of the PDP Board of Trustees, BoT.

He urged the 11 aspirants and other leaders of the party to rally behind him in his quest to take over power from President Buhari in 2019.

He said: “I can assure you that I am prepared to work with and reward all of you if we unite together to achieve success.

"I must commend the sense of patriotism displayed by my fellow contestants. From the very day I delivered my acceptance speech, we have been working together.

"I believe it is our duty to provide that sense of unity and leadership to the rest of party members."

Meanwhile, Atiku said that he would continue with the legacies of his former boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo if he wins.

Atiku said this during the reconciliation meeting with Obasanjo on Thursday, October 11. Atiku was Obasanjo’s vice president from 1999- 2007.

The PDP presidential candidate, who described the visit as historic for himself, Obasanjo and the country, said he could not have been what he was today without the wise counsel of his former boss and the opportunity he offered him to be the vice-president.
