The Field of Skills and Dreams (FSD) has graduated 20 trainees after a six weeks vocation training programme in fashion designing, hair dressing, cake baking, catering, and electrical installations.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony in Lagos yesterday, the Founder of FSD, Mrs. Omowale Ogunrinde, stated that the trainees were sponsored by Nagode Industries who also provided the equipment for them to start their own businesses.

She also noted that during the six weeks training, they were exposed to examinations and practical training as part of measures to build their capacity in the vocation skills they have chosen.

She expressed confidence that with the training and knowledge they have received they would be able to eke a living, “some of these trainees have started making small monies for themselves.”

Ogunrinde called on government to invest actively in skills acquisition as a measure to meaningfully engage the youths.

She added: “The next steps actually started before they graduated some of them are already in business. Some are baking the cake and pastries for people and they are being paid. Some are already making people’s hair and receiving payment, while the men are involved in tailoring. They have been sewing for people even without the machines; they go to other tailors to use their machines. Today, we graduated four people in the fashion design.

“One of the sponsor said we wanted to employ three of them and only one said she would consider, the others said they can’t work for anybody they want to work for themselves. So what this implies is that they’re going to make money. You can see that one thing the group Chief Executive Officer, of the Nagode industries kept on saying is the confidence of the students, if the students were not well trained they will not be confident.”

Don not get stuck at the well of argument. Let God be your vindicator. Let Him fight your battles. He will vindicate you better than you can vindicate yourself.
