Olanipekun Urges EFCC To Emulate ACU’s Anti-corruption Drive. by iamseun(m): 10:28am on September 23

Eminent lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) has tasked the nation’s anti-graft agencies to de-emphasise their present anti-graft drive, which is largely characterised by arbitrary arrests and hounding of individuals.
Rather than naming individuals and throwing them in jails arbitrarily, Olanipekun advocated the practice of prudent management in exterminating corrupt practices.

The legal luminary spoke at the Ajayi Crowther University (ACU), Oyo, while commissioning 10 multi-million naira projects in the institution.Olanipekun who is currently the Pro-chancellor of the institution also spoke on ACU’s vision and its commitment to prudent management of resources.’

“We are second to none when it comes to the management of very scarce resources. Very few Nigerian universities can boast of what we are doing. We have been able to commission 10 projects with our little resources. Please let us tell people in our country, this is the way to fight corruption. This is the way to manage resources.

We want to challenge the state governors to send people to ACU and learn how we manage resources, let them come and compare and contrast what we spent on our projects with what they spent in other public institutions.

‘’For the 10 block of classrooms, we have expended N9, 582,000; shopping complex, N9,350,000; Faculty of education Building, N5, 666,000, Registry extension N3, 722,000, clinic extension N3, 442,000, Accounting department extension N2, 900,000, water factory N7, 792,000, Laundry and supermarket, N3, 575,000, and indoor sport complex, N3, 158, 000.

‘’To us, this is our own humble way of telling the government that we have our own way of fighting corruption. We have our own way of instilling discipline into the financial sector of this country. How I wish the governments can take a cue from this. How I wish the EFCC would come here, not to arrest or harass our management team but to learn from us.
